CCIDC has announced a new “single” certification examination for Interior Designers in California. Anyone who intends to become a Certified Interior Designer need to write and clear one of the three recognized national examinations such as the NCIDQ, the CQRID, including a supplemental California Codes and Regulations Examination, the CCRE and all these courses are running for the last eight years approximately. Before then, only one national examination was recognized. These are additional to the regulations noted in Section 5800 of the Business & Professions Code. This move from the California Council for Interior Design Certification (CCIDC) will bring to the interior design market many new young interior designers.

Bringing the California certification examination up to date to be in accordance with the Section 139 of the California Business and Professions Code and to make it available to those who fall under the three categories of education and experience under the law, as well as to those with “experience only” is the purpose.

Mandatory: Candidates and student that pass the examination to meet all of the other requirements for becoming a Certified Interior Designer.

Note: CCIDC will accredit those who have taken one of the three national examinations, by making the current CCRE available longer.
